The structural integrity of the Disney relocation homes in Shanghai is being questioned by their residents, many of whom are fearful that the poorly built structures could collapse at any moment.
The two apartment blocks, which were built in 2012, are situated at No.17 and 18 West Huaxia Road in Xinyuan West Community, Chuansha Town and were built to house residents that were moved in order to make way for the Shanghai Disney Resort
Chen Tong, head of Xintuan Real Estate the engineering department, maintains that the buildings are safe, telling reporters that "only some decorative parts on the eaves were broken and residents can live in the blocks without any worries at all."The local residents appear not to share Chen's confidence concerning the safety of the buildings however, reportedly saying that they were afraid to live in these "model Disney relocation homes."
Qin Lijun, a top-floor resident of the leaning building at No.17, told Shanghai Daily that she noticed the buildings were touching on Saturday, at which point she warned fellow residents of the situation.
