Dai Xunwu, a farmer, has not had an easy life. His father died when he was very young and his wife left him 18 years ago. At the age of 68, his mother became paralyzed from the waist down after a bad fall. As the youngest child of his family, Dai has taken care of his mother since the accident.
Dai said he had planted Monk Fruit (siraitia grosvenorii), peppers and raised pigs to support his mother and his daughter, who entered high school last September.
But money had recently become tight, and Dai decided to go out to find another job.
He packed a suitcase and carried his mother from his hometown to Longshen town on March 22 to find work.
Dai reminds himself that his mother's generation went through hard times, war and poverty. "It wasn't easy at all for her to bring us up," he said. "My mom is aging, so it's my turn to wash her clothes and cook her meals."
Before going to work, he dresses his mother, combs her hair and turns the TV on. He cuts her food with a pair of scissors, feeds her and occasionally, buys her favorite candies.
